About the Security Council
The Security Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan is an advisory body on national security issues established in accordance with Article 109, paragraph 27 of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The Security Council makes proposals on the formation and implementation of state policy in the field of national security, on determining the main directions of external and internal security of the state, considers issues related to ensuring national security, as well as protection of the constitutional order, sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the state, the state of internal security and socio-political stability in the country, and performs other functions within its competence.
The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan is the Chairman of the Security Council.
Members of the Security Council are appointed and dismissed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in accordance with Article 109, paragraph 27 of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The Security Council carries out its work through meetings.
The Chairman of the Security Council determines the agenda of the meetings of the Security Council.
The Secretary of the Security Council organizes the meetings of the Security Council.
The Secretary of the Security Council ensures the implementation of the functions of the Security Council.
The Secretary of the Security Council is appointed and dismissed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
